Gulfstream Park’s business figures from August tell a story of increasing revenue for its slot, poker and simulcasting components, even as business at competing racinos in Broward County has been choked by the economic downturn.
Figures recently released by the State of Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation reveal Gulfstream Park’s slot machines handled $3,210,695 this past August, a rise of 10.11% from the same period in 2008. As Gulfstream’s business escalates, business at the Mardi Gras dog track sunk 21.96% while the Isle of Capri slumped 5.37%.
The business of poker at Gulfstream also enjoyed a very successful month, handling $305,634, up 9.6% over August, 2008.
Meanwhile, Gulfstream Park’s always robust simulcast business was up 2.58% from the previous August, registering total handle of $5,374,403.
Ante Up, “Florida’s Poker Magazine,” has discovered the proof of Gulfstream Park’s steadily rising popularity truly could be found in its pudding: It rated the food served at Gulfstream’s Ten Palms restaurant and its concessions, and at partner restaurant Christine Lee’s, best of any of the state’s comparably-sized gaming facilities. Ante Up also rated Gulfstream tops in “Equipment” (ie. comfortable seating, quality of tables and chips, ambience, etc.,.)
