M375 Thoroughbreds & Paul LoDuca

M375 is the racing stable put together and managed by Rob Murphy, 48, of Miami

Murphy is a former major league left-handed relief pitcher, playing from 1985 through 1995, for the Reds, Red Sox, Mariners, Astros, Yankees, Cardinals, Dodgers and Marlins

Mainly a set-up man and lefty specialist, his MLB career stats: 32-38, 30 saves, 3.64 ERA in 597 games

Attended the University of Florida before being drafted by the Reds in 1981

Murphy's father, Robert Sr., owns and operates Early Morning Farm in Ocala, Fla.

A lifelong horse racing fan, Murphy was known for going over past performances and bloodstock reports while in the bullpen

Studied computer science in college and used it in his racing business. He noticed that old computer cards that read "S-L-E-W" appeared as "M-3-7-5" when turned upside down

Best horse: Platinum Tiara, the runner-up in the 2000 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and three-time stakes winner over a three-year career

Paul Lo Duca, 36, originally from Brooklyn, grew up in Glendale, Ariz., now living in Florida, is a major league baseball catcher

The former Dodger, Marlin, Met, and National, like Murphy, has been a lifelong racing fan. Started buying his own horses in 2004 and raced in partnership Grace Anatomy, Grade 1 stakes-placed and seventh in the 2007 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies

Lo Duca and Murphy met through mutual friends at Calder Race Course
