Career:
-
Pitts was the assistant to Ken McPeek for five years and inherited many of the stable’s runners when he became a bloodstock agent in June 2005.
-
She’s the daughter of Clinton Pitts Jr., a longtime Maryland racing official who served a term as chief steward and she came up working for trainer Francis Campitelli.
-
She won her first race on her own July 1, 2005 with Cat Quatorze at Churchill Downs and three months later won her first Grade 1 stakes when Sweet Talker took the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland.
-
She matched that Grade 1 success in 2006 at Gulfstream when Einstein wired the field in the Gulfstream Park Turf Stakes.
-
She trained 2007 Horse of the Year Curlin through his career debut at Gulfstream where he won by 12¾ lengths. The colt’s owners sold a majority interest in the colt two days later and he was transferred to trainer Steve Asmussen.
