 Career:

• He is a kingpin at Thistledown in Cleveland and part of a leading family of Ohio-based horsemen  ... He is the only horseman in Thistledown history to top the track’s jockey and trainer standings. He was leading rider in 1988 and has won three consecutive conditioning titles, 2005 through 2007.
• Finished ninth among all North American trainers in 2006 with 180 winners and in the Top 15 through 11 months in 2007.
• Holds the record for most wins in a single season at Thistledown, 119 in 2005.
• Started training in December of 1993 ... His biggest stakes star was Tri Uimet, who won the $100,000 Cleveland Gold Cup in 2006 before going on to a sixth-place finish in the Ohio Derby.

• Was a jockey for 16 years, winning his first race in November of 1980 ... His father Joe was a trainer and his brother Jake is a leading conditioner at Beulah Park in Columbus, Ohio. His nephew Josh was killed in a riding accident in 2005 at Beulah at age 16 a few months into his apprenticeship.
