Dear Breeders, Owners, and Trainers:

It gives me great pleasure to announce the seventh annual running of the Sunshine Millions™ -- one of thoroughbred racing's richest and most exciting events.

The Sunshine Millions™ will take place on January 24, 2009 at Santa Anita Park in California and at Gulfstream Park in Florida and will showcase horses from two of the country's best thoroughbred breeding states in a head-to-head competition. The Sunshine Millions™ format features eight races, with full fields of top-quality Florida-bred and California-bred entries and guaranteed purses totaling $3.6 million. In addition, this year we will maintain the increased appearance fee for unplaced shippers in an effort to encourage greater cross-country competition.

Sunshine Millions pre-entries set
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Grade 1 winners Take D' Tour and Lava Man were both entered in the Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park, but neither is expected to run in the $1 million event. Instead, both are likely to compete the same afternoon at Santa Anita, Take D' Tour in the Distaff and Lava Man in the Turf.

Welcome to the official website of the Sunshine Millions™ - - one of Thoroughbred racing's newest and most exciting events.

The seventh annual Sunshine Millions™ will take place on January 24th, 2009 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California and at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida.

Once again, it will showcase horses from two of the country's best Thoroughbred breeding states, California and Florida, in a head-to-head competition.

The Sunshine Millions™ is based on a cumulative total of points for all races taking place on January 24, 2009 at Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita Park.

Points are allocated so that the winner of each of the eight races receives 5 points. Each second place winner will receive 3 points and 1 point is awarded for third place.

At the end of the day, the results are tallied for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in all eight races and the state with the most points WINS!
