Takeout (the amount removed from each pari-mutuel wagering pool before the payoffs to the public on a given wager are returned) is something that every bettor should know about.  Gulfstream Park offers the lowest takeout of any pari-mutuel facility in Florida and one of the lowest in the nation.  Gulfstream's respective takeout rates are as follows:

Win - Place - Show:  17%
Daily Double - Exacta - Bet Three:  20%
Trifecta - Superfecta:  25% 
Pick Four:  20%
Pick Six: 12%

Takeout monies are used to pay taxes, fund purses and, of course, generate track revenue.
