Leonor Moreno Named Security Employee of the Year

Leonor Moreno was named Security Employee of the Year in an awards luncheon held Sept. 9 at Ten Palms restaurant.

She will receive a watch and a plaque of appreciation.

Ms. Moreno – shown, from left, with Mike Chapple, Bill Murphy and Bob Hopps – was also the inaugural winner of the Security Employee of the Month Award in August, 2007.

She was selected by her fellow Employees of the Month: Marco Arboleda, William Nickerson, Glen Ferguson, Roderick Colebrook, Tracy Clausell, Torreon Martin, Cecibel Burgos, Jose Pena, Brandon Hall and Michael Stafford.

Mike Chapple, Assistant General Manager, said Ms. Moreno "has been an important asset to the department's efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the property, and we look forward to her continued willingness to demonstrate exemplary leadership."

Moreno, whose background includes work for a private security firm as well as serving as a member and martial arts trainer for the Hollywood chapter of the Guardian Angels, commended her colleagues.

"This is for all of you, for all your hard work and effort," she said. "Let’s keep doing it."

Gulfstream Park President and General Manager Bill Murphy commended Ms. Moreno for her performance. Upon hearing of her latest award, he said, "Leonor is the embodiment of who we want to be here at Gulfstream. She perfectly captures the spirit of the new Gulfstream."

Her colleague, Tracy Clausell, praised her by saying, "Leonor has been a great leader and professional. You can always call on Leonor and she’ll be there and she’ll be cheerful."
