Brownfield Captures Gulfstream Park “First-Chance, Last-Chance” Handicapping Contest

David Brownfield from Toledo, OH, shipped to Gulfstream Park to capture the $400 Gulfstream Park “First-Chance, Last-Chance” Handicapping Contest on Saturday, Jan. 19 and Sunday, Jan. 20. The contest was a qualifier for the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship (NHC) in Las Vegas.

With the “first-chance, last-chance” rules, Brownfield and second-place finisher Randy R. Gallo were given the choice of qualifying for this year’s NHC or next year’s. Brownfield will be heading to the 2014 NHC, while Gallo will participate in the 2013 event.

Brownfield ended the two-day tournament will a bankroll of $531.50. Gallo finished with a bankroll of $447. Both men, along with the other 117 contest participants, made exactly 20 $5 win/place bets over the two-day tournament. Contest bets were made on races from Gulfstream Park, Aqueduct and Tampa Bay only.
