Career: The young riders career took off during the winter of 2012-2013, finishing fourth at Gulfstream in wins and money earned. Won the Mr. Prospector (G3) for the second consecutive year, this time with Indiano, and the Hal's Hope (G3) with Csaba and Hurricane Bertie (G3) with Fort Loudon.
He finished in a tie for 11th with 26 trips to the winner’s circle during the 2011-12 Gulfstream meeting. He scored a stunning stakes victory in the Mr. Prospector (G3), in which Apriority recovered after stumbling badly at the start to stage a successful stretch drive. After the race, trainer David Fawkes stated his amazement at Saez’s ability to avoid being unseated at the start and his ground-saving ride thereafter.
In 2013, won the Peter Pan (G2) with Freedom Child, the Sheepshead Bay (G2) with Tannery and the Travers (G1) with Will Take Charge, who would finish second to Mucho Macho Man in the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1).
Saez has dominated the spring/summer meetings at Calder Race Course the past three seasons. He was a finalist in the Eclipse Award voting for Outstanding Apprentice in 2009. Saez began his riding career in Panama after graduating from the Laffit Pincay, Jr. Jockey School in December 2008 and won 37 races. He arrived in South Florida in 2009 and made an instant impact on the Calder jockey colony as he managed to finish fifth in the standings while competing approximately three and one half months after the meet had begun.
