•           The wife of the late Tommy Valando, who was a successful Broadway music publisher working for BMI who helped launch some of the stage's most successful shows

•           Born in Fort Worth, Tex., she now lives in Greenwich, Conn., and Palm Beach, Fla.
•           Together the two jumped into horse racing with Fly So Free and struck gold immediately when the horse won the 1990 Champagne and Breeders' Cup Juvenile and swept Gulfstream's Kentucky Derby preps including the Florida Derby

•           She owned Fly So Free through his stallion career and raced some of his offspring including Take the Cake, who was a prominent filly in 2002 with a fifth-place finish in the Kentucky Oaks
•           Raced 2007 Holy Bull Stakes and Wood Memorial winner Nobiz Like Shobiz
