Juddmonte Farms

Juddmonte Farms is the breeding and racing operation of Prince Khalid Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, England and Kentucky.
  • Won Gulfstream's 2013 The Very One with Starformer
  • Stakes winner Emollient kicked off 2013 season with victory at Gulfstream.
  • He is semi-retired from running the Mawared conglomerate. 
  • He started out with expensive purchases that set auction records in Europe in the 1970s, but concentrated on homebreds after developing his breeding operation. 
  • In 1983, he was awarded honorary membership in Britain’s Jockey Club. 
  • Has won 11 Eclipse Awards as top owner or breeder or both and has been honored as a leading owner and breeder in Britain and France. • Juddmonte’s homebred Frankel concluded an undefeated racing career with a victory in the 2012 Champion Stakes at Ascot. Named in the memory of Juddmonte’s longtime trainer Bobby Frankel, the 4-year-old colt won all 14 of his races and is widely regarded as one of the best horses of all time. 
  • Homebred Empire Maker captured the 2003 Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream before adding the Wood Memorial (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1). 
  • Four homebreds have captured Breeders’ Cup races: Banks Hill (2001 Filly & Mare Turf), Intercontinental (2001 Filly & Mare Turf), Midday (2009 Filly & Mare Turf) and Ventura (2008 Filly & Mare Sprint). 
  • Juddmonte has bred 80 individual Group or Grade 1 stakes winners, including 2006 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Rail Link; 1985 Arc-winner Rainbow Quest; champion Known Fact; classic winner Dancing Brave; 1990 Epsom Derby winner Quest for Fame, who won the 1992 Hollywood Turf Handicap; homebreds Zafonic and Commander in Chief, who won the Two Thousand Guineas and Epsom Derby, respectively, in 1993; and homebred multiple group 1 winner Oasis Dream. 
  • Flute carried Juddmonte’s colors to citory in the 2003 Kentucky Oaks. 
  • Banks Hill, Intercontinental, Ryafan and Wandesta were honored with Eclipse Awards. …Juddmonte Farms consists of three properties in the United States and six properties in England and Ireland. 
  • Dr. John Chandler manages Abdullah’s North American operation. The nearly 2,500-acre Juddmonte Farms near Lexington was founded in 1982, with Known Fact becoming its first stallion in 1987. Garrett O’Rourke manages that farm, which is home to the stallions Aptitude, Empire Maker and Mizzen Mast.
