•           Philadelphia native lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

•           Cherry owned and operated his family's business, Cherrydale Farms, a candy and chocolate manufacturer based in Pennsburg, Pa. He expanded the business to include items such as gift wrapping and greeting cards before selling in 1994. He and his family later reacquired the com-pany

•           First involvement with racing came with ownership of Standardbreds in the Northeast during the 1960s and ’70s, then got out of racing during the 1980s to focus on business. He was reintroduced to the sport in 1994 after moving to Florida

•           Started out with claiming horses, but has found Graded success with Pickapocket, Fantasy Angel, Hurrahy, A Little Gem and Silver Squire.

•           Won major 3-year-old stakes at Gulfstream during past few years with Marasca and Wynn Dot Comma,

and won the 2005 Spinster at Keeneland with Pampered Princess

•           Also campaigned Serazzo, a top steeplechaser, with trainer Tom Voss
