Stronach Stables

Frank Stronach is the founder and chairman of The Stronach Group, which owns Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park, the Maryland Jockey Club, Golden Gate Fields, Portland Meadows, Xpressbet and a share of HRTV. 
 
  • His daughter, Belinda, a former member of the Canadian parliament, is President and CEO of The Stronach Group. 
  • He was born in Austria, immigrated to Canada in 1954. He formed a tool and die company and eventually grew his company into one of the largest auto parts manufacturers in the world. …His breeding operation, Adena Springs, has farms in Kentucky, Florida and Canada and is named for the Native American tribe who first inhabited the Kentucky property. 
  • Adena Springs has been honored as the country’s leading breeders with eight Eclipse Awards (2000, 2004-2008, 2010-2011). 
  • Stronach has been honored as the country’s leading owner with four Eclipse Awards (1998-2000, 2008). 
  • He purchased a riding horse in 1962 and a $700 claimer in the early 1960s. 
  • He has bred and campaigned two American classic winners: 1997 Belmont Stakes winner Touch Gold and 2000 Preakness Stakes victor Red Bullet. 
  • He has visited Breeders’ Cup winner’s circles with homebreds on five occasions with Awesome Again (1998 Classic), 2004 Horse of the Year Ghostzapper (Classic), Ginger Punch (2007 Ladies’ Classic), Macho Uno (2000 Juvenile) and Perfect Sting (2000 Filly & Mare Turf). 
  • All were honored with Eclipse Awards. 
  • During the 2011-2012 Gulfstream meeting, Awesome Feather put her owner in the winner’s circle with a victory in the Florida Sunshine Millions Distaff.
