Career: The popular McLaughlin saddled Soldat to victory in the Fountain of Youth (G2) and trained graded stakes winners It’s Tricky and Trappe Shot at Palm Meadows. It’s Tricky would win the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) and finish second in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G2) while Trappe Shot would win the True North (G2).  Rattlesnake Bridge, who began his 3-year-old campaign with a second to Uncle Mo in Gulfstream’s Timely Writer, would win the Long Branch at Monmouth and finish second in the Travers (G1). Gulfstream stakes winners from a profitable  2009 meeting included Justwhistledixie, winner of the Davona Dale and Bonnie Miss, and Albertus Maximus, the Donn Handicap winner ... On the short list of top trainers worldwide after campaigning 2006 Horse of the Year Invasor to victory in the Donn Handicap and Dubai World Cup as well as winning the 2006 Belmont Stakes with Jazil ... ... He won Breeders’ Cup races in both 2006 and ‘07, with Invasor taking the Classic at Churchill Downs and Lahudood winning the Filly & Mare Turf at Monmouth Park ... He came just short of winning the 2005 Kentucky Derby with Closing Argument, who had won Gulfstream’s Holy Bull Stakes that winter ... McLaughlin started out as an assistant to D. Wayne Lukas then moved to Dubai as a semi-private trainer for the Maktoum family.
