Career: Pletcher scored his 10th consecutive training title at Gulfstream during the 2012-2013 meeting while topping the standings with 52 winners and $3.1 million in purses. His stakes successes came with Graydar in the Donn Handicap (G1), Discreet Dancer in the Gulfstream Park Handicap (G2), Dreaming of Julia in the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2), Dust and Diamonds in the Sugar Swirl (G3), Kauai Katie in the Forward Gal (G2) and Old Hat (G3), Charming Kitten in the Kitten’s Joy, Channel Lady in the Suwannee River (G3), Stopshoppingmaria in the Lady’s Turf Sprint, Fusaichiwonderful in the Primal Force, Ciao Bella in the Rampart (G3), and Travelin Man in the Sir Shackleton.
He won his 10th training title at Saratoga and 28th New York title overall in 2013. Among his major stakes winners were Princess of Sylmar (Kentucky Oaks and Alabama), Verrazano (Wood Memorial and Haskell), Havana (Champagne) and Capo Bastone (King’s Bishop).
He won his ninth consecutive training title at Gulfstream in 2011-12 after saddling 72 winners. He saddled the 3000th winner of his career on Feb. 11 at Gulfstream. His stable won 11 stakes, including the Hutcheson (G2) with Thunder Moccasin, the Holy Bull (G3) with Algorithms, the Forward Gal (G2) with Broadway’s Alibi, the Rampart (G3) and the Sabin (G3) with Awesome Maria, the Florida Sunshine Millions Sprint with Soaring Stocks,  the Hurricane Bertie (G3) and Ocala Stakes with R Holiday Mood, the Canadian Turf (G3) with Doubles Partner, the Ft. Lauderdale (G3) with Silver Medallion, and the Sir Shackleton with Travelin Man. 
He won his first Kentucky Derby in 2010 with Super Saver and later that year won three Breeders’ Cup races, including the Juvenile with champion Uncle Mo. 
He won 2010 Fountain of Youth with Eskendereya. 
The victory by the filly Rags to Riches in the 2007 Belmont Stakes gave him his first win in a Triple Crown race. He had lost with his previous 28 Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont starters. He also won the 2007 Florida Derby with Scat Daddy.
He has six career wins in the Hutcheson Stakes.
Pletcher holds the record for wins at Saratoga, saddling 38 winners in 2011. He has trained 10 champions: Ashado, English Channel, Fleet Indian, Lawyer Ron, Left Bank, Rags to Riches, Speightstown, Wait a While, Uncle Mo and Shanghai Bobby.
The five-time Eclipse champion ranks second behind only D. Wayne Lukas all-time in purses-won with $256 million in late 2013.

Father and mother, Joan, now operate Payton Training Center near Ocala.
