A pair of longshot winners in the second and third legs of the six-race sequence added a measure of suspense when only 696 tickets were still ‘live’ from Friday’s $212,018 Rainbow 6 pool. After True to the Game ($7.40) kicked off the Rainbow 6 with a victory as the second choice in the fourth race, Shining America ($50.20) and Persuasive ($109) scored major upsets in the fifth and sixth races, respectively.
Subsequent victories by heavily favored Malibu Charlie ($3) in the seventh and Maydell ($6.20) in the eighth reduced the number of ‘live tickets’ to 32, including just one eligible to crack the jackpot had No. 2 Princess Jasmine won the ninth race. No. 6 Ka Buki Rose ($11.40) posted a front-running victory that completed the winning combination of 5-1-5-7-9-6 that was worth $39,566.86 to multiple ticketholders.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
The Rainbow 6 was last solved on Wednesday, March 18, when a lucky bettor collected a jackpot payoff of $210,973.74. On March 12, the Rainbow 6 jackpot was hit for a $1,079,444.22 payoff. An all-time Pick 6 record payoff was recorded last May when the popular multi-race wager returned $6.6 million.
There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $4,620.72 Saturday.
