Fundraiser Part of Derby Day Festivities
Prizes, Drink Specials and Hat Contests All on Derby Day
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Gulfstream Park will join a consortium of racing venues and organizations Saturday, May 2 by holding a silent auction of framed, autographed prints of some of Thoroughbred racing's biggest stars to raise money for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF).
Gulfstream's silent auction will have framed, autographed photographs of Secretariat (signed by Penny Chenery); Zenyatta (signed by Mike Smith); California Chrome (signed by Victor Espinoza); and Wise Dan (signed by John Velazquez)
Proceeds go to the PDJF to provide aid for permanently disabled jockeys' health care and living expenses.
The PDJF fundraiser will be one of many events surrounding Derby Day at Gulfstream Park.
Fans can buy a Mint Julep cocktail in a collectible Derby glass for only $5. There will be special drawings for Kentucky Derby merchandise, dinners at Ten Palms and betting vouchers. There will be hat contests for both adults and children with more than $2,500 in prizes and a special Derby Day Buffet in Ten Palms for $59.99.
