Nicoletti Zeros in on Friday’s Rainbow 6 Mandatory Payout

May 21, 2015

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot pool is set for Friday, May 22, and Ron Nicoletti has been hard at work studying all the data for the popular multi-race wager.

Here’s how Gulfstream Park longtime handicapper views the six-race sequence:
D’ANNIE is dropping into the maiden claiming ranks and is getting Lasix for her first start since finishing 2nd as a 2-year-old in a 4 ½-furlong maiden test here almost a year ago. Trainer Ralph Nicks, 22% with the longer than 180-day layoff, has Tyler Gaffalione handling her turf debut.  DREAMING OF EVA is a daughter of Lewis Michael debuting for trainer Mike Petro with five local workouts showing, which includes a couple of solid works out of the gate. Trainer Petro adds Lasix and apprentice Harry Hernandez for the career debut.  SWEET MADEA is dropping to the $20,000 level after showing speed and fading in her career debut for a $60,000 claiming tag on the main track. Trainer Bill Kaplan has go-to jock Juan Leyva quarterbacking the combo surface switch/dropdown.
GALARDONADO is cutting back to 5 furlongs on the turf after posting by far the best last-race Beyer figure (81) when beaten a half-length vs. maiden special weight competition going 6 furlongs on the main track. Trainer Antonio Sano has Eddie Castro handling the surface switch.  EURO EXCHANGE, 3rd in his career debut at this distance on the turf, is going back to the lawn after dueling for the lead and finishing 2nd best going 7 furlongs on the main track. Trainer Cam Gambolati, 20% with his turf sprinters, has Edgar Prado atop the $110,000 son of Exchange Rate.  B K MASTERKEY is making his local debut and first start since rallying to finish 3rd vs. maiden special weight runners going 5 furlongs on the Tampa turf. Trainer Joyce Kielty has apprentice Brandon Boulanger named to ride.
PRINCESS MALIA moved to the Aubrey Maragh barn via the claim and is turning back to 6 furlongs after tracking the pace and finishing 2nd vs. multiple winners in a $12,500 open claimer going a mile. The 8-time winner is spotted well vs. this caliber of competition.  MAELYS HOPE is hoping to find a little more for the stretch drive and dueling for the early lead and finishing 2nd vs. $6,250 claimers going 6 furlongs on a wet track listed as ‘good’. Trainer Giuseppe Iadisernia has Omar Camejo named to ride. DADS LITTLE GIRLS has been knocking on the door in both recent races vs. similar at the distance and merits a spot on the Rainbow 6 ticket. Trainer Randi Persaud has Eddie Castro at the helm.
SKYBLUEANDBLACK is stepping up to the next logical level after drawing away at a mile to wallop a field of ‘2-lifetime’ claimers by 6 widening lengths. The only concern about the daughter of Scat Daddy is the lack of a previous victory at this mile and a sixteenth distance (8-0-4-3).  CHICA CHAPINA, is making her 2nd consecutive start from the rail hoping to improve on her last start when she broke slowly and spotted the field 10 lengths before rallying 4-wide to finish 3rd as the favorite.  SECRET FASCINATION, a previous winner at the distance (12-1-3-1), just needs to find a little more after finishing 2nd, a neck in front of Chica Chapina, last out. Trainer Antonio Sano has Tyler Gaffalione penciled in for the return riding assignment.
GIANT’S PASSION is turning back to 7 ½ furlongs after responding to the re-addition of blinkers by setting the pace and weakening late to finish 4th vs. this caliber of competition going a mile and a sixteenth. Trainer Terri Pompay has Jonathan Gonzales rationing the gelding’s speed.  DR. PHAM is a $200,000 son Tiznow debuting for trainer Kathy Ritvo with a string of stamina enhancing workouts showing in preparation for his career debut. The colt, bred to love the turf, gets Lasix and jockey Jesus Rios for this assignment.  EL ALMIRANTE is turning back to 7 ½ furlongs after returning from the 2-month layoff to finish 3rd behind impressive Euro-shipper Cordero going 9 furlongs on the grass. Trainer Juan Rizo has Edgar Prado at the controls.
HERO WISDOM moved to the Peter Walder barn via the claim and is stretching out to a mile and a sixteenth (3-1-0-0) after encountering trouble at the ¾-pole when finishing 2nd – as the favorite – going a mile on the Tampa turf. The new connections tab Tyler Gaffalione to ride.  TIME FOR HARLAN is stretching out to a mile and a sixteenth after getting fanned 6-wide and still managing to defeat similar going 7 ½ furlongs. The filly loves the local turf (3-1-0-2) but has no wins at the distance (3-0-0-2).ANGEL’S GIRL will depart from the rail with enough early tactical speed needed to secure a stalking trip along the inside paths, which can be the ‘key’ to success in a full field of 14 runners. Trainer Steve Dwoskin has Jesus Rios in the saddle.
