Grade 1 Winners Lochte, Twilight Eclipse, Rosalind Target Gulfstream Stakes

Total of 59 Nominations for Trio of Grade 3 $100,000 Stakes Dec. 26

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Led by Grade 1 winners Lochte, Twilight Eclipse and Rosalind, a total of 59 horses were nominated for a trio of Grade 3 $100,000 stakes that will highlight the Dec. 26 card at Gulfstream Park.

Lochte and Twilight Eclipse are among the 26 nominees for the 49th running of the W.L. McKnight Handicap for 3-year-olds and up at 1 ½ miles on the turf. Crossed Sabres Farm’s Lochte was an upset winner of the 2014 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap (G1), while West Point Thoroughbreds’ Twilight Eclipse, who set a world record for 1 ½ miles winning the 2013 Pan American (G3) at Gulfstream,  captured the Man o’ War (G1) in May at Belmont Park.

Graded stakes winners Da Big Hoss, Kaigun and War Dancer are also nominated, along with multiple Venezuelan Group 1 winner My Running Mate; Chad Brown-trained Florida-bred Fundamental, fourth by a length in the Hollywood Derby (G1) last time out, and Grade 1-placed stablemate Shining Copper; and stakes winners Charming Kitten, Manchurian High, Morning Calm and St. Albans Boy.

The 47th running of the La Prevoyante for fillies and mares 3 and up going 1 ½ miles on the turf attracted 20 nominations led by the Brown-trained Rosalind, 2014 Ashland (G1) winner whose lone victory this year came in the Sheepshead Bay (G2) in May at Belmont.

Multiple Grade 3-winning stablemate Goldy Espony; Walk Close, winner of the Modesty Handicap (G3) in June for trainer Christophe Clement; Lady Fog Horn, who strung together four straight stakes victories at Indiana Downs this year; Quiet Kitten, who captured the Claiming Crown Tiara Dec. 5 at Gulfstream; and Florida-bred Pink Poppy, winless since opening the year with a victory in the Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf, are also nominated.

Multiple stakes-winning Florida-bred Flutterby, owned and trained by 94-year-old Jerry Bozzo, tops 13 horses nominated for the 37th running of the Sugar Swirl for fillies and mares 3 and up at six furlongs on the main track. She is joined by Grade 2 winner Stonetastic and Grade 3-winning Jacks or Better Farm homebred Dogwood Trail along with stakes winners Heykittykitty, More Than a Party, Naval Command, You Bought Her and multiple graded stakes-placed filly Dancing House.
