$100,000 Mr. Prospector (G3) Quotes

Dec 19, 2015
Trainer Jorge Navarro (XY Jet): “We always thought he was a nice horse last year. I guess we rushed him into things last year and he wasn’t prepared to be doing the things that we’re doing right now. I think he’s a nice horse. My next Private Zone.”

“(Last year in the Swale) he stumbled real bad and grabbed his quarter real bad, and came out with a small chip. I sent him to the farm and they discovered the chip. We did the surgery and took our time with him. We got him back about five months ago. We’ve taken our time with him. That’s what we’re going to do with him, take our time. This is a nice horse. A 3-year-old, doing this, beating older horses?

“We’re going to take a look at how he comes out. Hopefully, everything comes out good and we’ll go from there.

“Coming out of the last race, to run that big at (Gulfstream Park West), that’s a lot. Not too many horses do that there. Especially 3-year-olds.

“The last two times he ran at Gulfstream Park he stumbled really bad. That’s my main issue with him. That’s when he was a 2-year-olld. Now he’s a 3-year-old, he’s more mature. I told the jock to just break and go.”

Jockey Emisael Jaramillo (XY Jet): “I had a lot of confidence in the horse today. I was impressed with the way he ran last time and I’m even more impressed with him today.”

Jockey Jeffrey Sanchez (Grande Shores): “I tried to ride him like I rode him before—let him break, sit, and make one big run. He ran well. The winner didn’t really come back, but my horse kept on running. I’m happy to finish second for him (trainer Stanley Gold). He helped me a lot and he’s always there for me.”

Note: Winning margin was 9 1/4 lengths. Winning Time was 1:08.56.
