Thursday’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Stands at $23,852

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Carlos Munoz’s Di Maria, a daughter of Data Link, captured the Spring Meet’s first race for 2-year-olds at Gulfstream Park Wednesday, scoring by three lengths in the second race, a $50,000 maiden special weight event for fillies.

Ridden by Martin Ramirez, Di Maria ($31.60) dueled with stablemate La Chica Ripool into the stretch before pulling away to victory in the 4 ½-furlong sprint. Jacks or Better Farm’s Pantyhose closed well to finish second, 3 ¼ lengths ahead of Munoz’s La Chica Ripool.

Di Maria ran 4 ½ furlongs in 51.50 seconds. The Kentucky-bred filly is from the first crop of Data Link, a multiple graded-stakes winner on turf who captured the 2013 Canadian Turf (G2) at Gulfstream.

Di Maria was purchased for $4,500 at the 2016 Keeneland September Sale.
A field of seven juvenile boys has been assembled for Thursday’s fifth race, a $50,000 maiden special weight race to be contested at 4 ½ furlongs. Munoz will be represented by Crown to the Gold, a Florida-bred son of Crown of Thorns. Trainer Ralph Nicks will saddle a pair of colts, Jacks or Better Farm’s Slacks of Course, and Joseph Bulger and Carrie Brogden’s Jimmy Idontknowya. Trainer Stanley Gold is scheduled to saddle a pair of Arindel
homebreds, Another Key and Rocky Strange.
