Osborne Says “Fire Still Burning” in Toast of New York

Jan 20, 2018
Faces 11 Others in $16 Million Pegasus World Cup (G1)

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Trainer Jamie Osborne admits the odds of running Toast of New York in the Jan. 27 Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) at Gulfstream Park a year ago “were a 1,000-1.”

But after a three-year hiatus, the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) runner-up has returned to racing and is one of the more intriguing entries in the $16 million Pegasus, the world’s richest horse race.

“It’s a rarity, isn’t it?” Osborne asked. “But as time went on it was becoming more and more obvious that the fire was still burning,

“The fact we are not just back but we’re back with the belief that he is as good if not better than he was back in 2014 is beyong our wildest dream.”
