Trainer Talks with Jason Blewitt on “Blew’s Clues”

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Seven years ago, Saffie Joseph Jr., a third generation horseman from Barbados, arrived in South Florida with two horses at the age of 22.

Fast forward to the current Championship Meet at Gulfstream Park and Joseph is looking over one of South Florida’s most consistent stables and a barn of more than 20 horses. The stable’s runners have finished first, second or third 50 percent of the time during the Championship Meet, and Joseph, who trained the multiple-stakes winner Saraguaro, is becoming known for his claiming prowess.

In the latest edition of Jason Blewitt’s “Blew’s Clues,” the Gulfstream Park host and analyst talks to Joseph about his background, his leap of faith leaving Barbados for South Florida, and the differences between racing in the U.S. and the Caribbean.
