Undefeated Pletcher colt 8-5 Favorite; Union Rags 2-1
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park morning-line oddsmaker Chuck Streva made Starlight Racing’s Algorithms the 8-5 favorite for Sunday’s $400,000 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth (G2).
Undefeated in three career starts, Algorithms was a five-length winner in the Jan. 29 of the Holy Bull (G3) over Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Hansen. Champagne (G1) winner Union Rags, second to Hansen in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and making his first start since the Nov. 5 Breeders’ Cup, was made the 2-1 second choice. Another undefeated Pletcher-trained colt, Discreet Dancer, is 3-1.
“The reason I went with Algorithms was because he has a start over the track and Union Rags is making his first start of the year,” Streva explained. “Basically, that’s the reason I leaned the way I did.”
Others in the field include: Neck ‘N Neck (15-1), Fort Loudon (20-1), Casual Trick (8-1), News Pending (20-1), and Csaba (20-1).
