Bossinakis, DeSantis Ready To Host 'Gulfstream Today' Beginning Opening Day

Gulfstream Park announced today Christina Bossinakis and John DeSantis will serve as hosts and analysts for the 2012-2013 season, which begins Saturday, Dec. 1 with the 14th running of the $850,000 Claiming Crown.

In addition to handicapping Gulfstream's daily races, Bossinakis and DeSantis will co-host 'Gulfstream Today,' before every live program and will host a special 'Gulfstream Today' each Saturday morning with a special guest. Bossinakis and DeSantis will also have their daily picks distributed free each day along with popular South Florida analyst Ron Nicoletti as part of the Gulfstream Handicapper. Brian Skirka will also join Bossinakis and DeSantis with live reports from the walking ring.

"We're excited that Christina and John will provide their insights and expertise to Gulfstream's world-class races this winter," said Gulfstream Park President Tim Ritvo. "We're looking forward to another exciting season of racing, led by the Claiming Crown Opening Day, the Eclipse Awards and Florida Sunshine Millions Jan. 19 and, of course, the Fountain of Youth, Donn Handicap, Holy Bull and $1 million Florida Derby."

Bossinakis comes to Gulfstream from the Thoroughbred Daily News, where she has worked since 2001 and served as senior editor, playing the role of writer, editor and reporter. She has also been a contributor and correspondent for TVG. Born and raised in Montreal, Canada where she worked on the backstretch at the Hippodrome de Montreal, Bossinakis graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Science and a double major in biology and literature.

DeSantis, originally from Philadelphia, is a Thoroughbred racing veteran, beginning his career in publicity departments at Southern California racetracks. He's worked as a morning-line maker, journalist, television and radio host and racing official. He served as agent to jockeys Sandy Hawley and Alex Solis before becoming Senior Vice President and Editor of Xpressbet.
