R Holiday Mood & Musical Romance Meet in Inside Information

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - E. Paul Robsham Stable’s 4-year-old filly R Holiday Mood has already won a pair of stakes races at the Gulfstream Park meet for leading trainer Todd Pletcher while Pinnacle Racing and Bill Kaplan’s 5-year-old mare Musical Romance, the 2011 Eclipse champion filly and mare sprinter, bids to bounce back from an unfortunate beginning to her 2012 season.
 

Unbeatens Currency Swap & Gemologist Meet in Friday Allowance

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence’s Currency Swap, 2-for-2 for trainer Terri Pompay, and WinStar Farm’s Gemologist, 3-for-3 for trainer Todd Pletcher, will clash in their respective 2012 debuts in Friday’s third race at Gulfstream Park.
Currency Swap captured the Hopeful (G1) at Saratoga in his 2011 finale, while Gemologist won the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) at Churchill Downs in his last race as a juvenile.
 

Gulfstream Park to Host 2012 Claiming Crown on Opening Day

Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida will host the 14th running of the Claiming Crown on the opening day of its 2012-2013 meet, Saturday, December 1, 2012.  The 2012 event will see a significant increase in purses to $850,000 for seven races with the individual race purses ranging from $100,000 to $200,000.  In addition to the six Claiming Crown races conducted at the 2011 event, the Tiara for fillies and mares on the turf will return this year.

Jerry Frankel, Ronald Frankel and Steve Laymon’s Dayatthespa was sent off as the 9-to-10 favorite in a field of eight 3-year-olds fillies in Sunday’s $150,000 Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park, but was all out to hold Steven Ciccarone’s 11-to-1 Regalo Mia safe for a neck victory in the 1 1/8 miles turf test.
