Alex Rankin’s 6-year-old Tar Heel Mom held off Starlight Partners and C.E. Glasscock’s 4-year-old filly Hilda’s Passion by neck under the wire to win the $100,000 Sugar Swirl Stakes (G3) going six furlongs at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 15, and the two are set for a rematch in Sunday’s $150,000 Hurricane Bertie Stakes (G3) at 6 ½ furlongs.

Solis Back At Gulfstream And Among The Leaders

“It’s crazy and amazing…and fun to come back to Gulfstream Park,” enthused the 46-year-old veteran jockey through a broad smile.

Strike It Rich Returns in Friday Allowance Feature

Waterville Lake Stable’s 4-year-old filly Strike It Rich was on a roll the first half of last season winning three straight, including the Little Silver Stakes and Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth Park for trainer Christophe Clement. Things didn’t go her way, however, when finishing last of 12 as the favorite in the Lake George Stakes (G2) last out at Saratoga on July 28.
