HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A memorial to celebrate the life of beloved South Florida Chart-caller Chuck Streva, who passed away Friday morning following a long illness, is scheduled for Sunday evening, 9 p.m.-11 p.m.
A public viewing will be held for Streva’s family and friends at Stanfill Funeral Homes, 10545 S. Dixie Highway, Miami, FL.
Streva, 56, was widely respected for his expertise as the official Equibase chart caller at both Gulfstream Park and Calder Race Course, as well as the official linemaker during his long tenures at the two racetracks. Streva was also a popular public handicapper with his selections carried in the Miami Herald.
Streva grew up in a racing family that included late grandfather Dave Wilson, a legendary newspaper handicapper and columnist in New England and Florida, and uncle Jack Wilson, a former Daily Racing Form supervisor of track and field operations who called the official charts for the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup.
Streva is survived by his wife, Connie, and sons, Chris and Michael.
