HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - The Gulfstream Park Thoroughbred After-Care Program wants you and a guest to be part of one of the biggest and most historic celebrations in racing – the 137th running of the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore on May 19, 2012.
And we’re going to make it easy.
All you have to do is like The Gulfstream Thoroughbred After-Care Program page on Facebook. When you do, you’ll automatically be eligible to win the big prize, which includes airfare for two from anywhere in the continental U.S, two nights accommodations, and two tickets to the second leg of racing’s Triple Crown.
The Gulfstream Park Thoroughbred After-Care Program was established in February of 2011 by Mr. Frank Stronach to help match retired thoroughbreds with loving owners who have a lifetime commitment to their health, safety and well being.
An industry leader and innovator in the retraining and rehabilitation of thoroughbred race horses, as well as an advocate and supporter of several retirement programs, Mr. Stronach seeded the program by matching the money currently taken from Gulfstream purses (one-third of one percent) earmarked for distribution to retirement programs by the Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association (FHBPA). Mr. Stronach has also set up a similar After-Care Program at Santa Anita Park in California.
Mr. Stronach’s dedication to improving the welfare and safety of thoroughbred horses during and after their racing careers was recognized in the summer of 2011 when he became the first recipient of the ‘Earl I. Mack Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation Champion Award.’ In September, Mr. and Mrs. Stronach were honored with the Volterra Award at the LongRun Legends Gala for “striving to provide a safe and happy retirement for horses.”
