Gulfstream To Open Palm Meadows Immediately
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park announced Saturday morning that it will open the Palm Meadows training facility immediately to help horsemen who will be displaced by Calder’s restricted access policy.
There will be no charge for stall rent.
“The policy of The Stronach Group and our chairman, Mr. Frank Stronach, has always been to allow horsemen open access,” said Gulfstream President Tim Ritvo. “If horsemen want to run with us, they will have a home.”
Palm Meadows has a 1 1/8-mile main track, one-mile jogging track and turf course as well as 1,320 stalls with turnout paddocks. The world-class facility has been the winter home to five of the last eight Kentucky Derby winners, 2012 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Fort Larned, and Horse of the Year champions Invasor, Saint Liam and Ghostzapper.
Gulfstream also announced Saturday morning that horsemen who run a horse Monday, July 1 through Sunday, July 7 will receive a $1,000 starter fee.
