Rainbow 6 Jackpot Hit for $40,807.18
Ol Donyo Makes Winning 2014 Debut

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A 20-Cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot of $40,807.18 was claimed by one lucky ticketholder with the 1-2-1-7-2-9 combination for the last six races on Thursday’s card at Gulfstream Park.

The popular multi-race wager requires a bettor to be the only one holding a ticket with all six winners in order to crack the jackpot.

The Rainbow 6 will span Races 5 through 10 on Friday, when there will be a guaranteed $50,000 carryover jackpot pool.

Ol Donyo Makes Winning 2014 Debut in Feature

Ol Donyo returned from an eight-month layoff to score a narrow victory in Thursday’s featured ninth race at Gulfstream Park,

Coming off ankle surgery and making her debut for trainer Marty Wolfson, the 4-year-old daughter of Curlin saved ground while stalking pacesetter Royal Rhiannon into the stretch before finding room and prevailing by a three-quarters of a length under jockey Jilver Chamafi. Ol Donyo ran six furlongs in 1:10.30.

“She trained really nice. She’s the first horse I’ve trained for these people, so this is nice,” said Wolfson, who saddled Ol Donyo in the optional claiming allowance for Newtown Amer Stud.

Ol Donyo ($9.20) had competed in three straight stakes, winning the $100,000 Zaftig Stakes at Belmont last fall before sustaining the ankle injury that had sidelined her since Nov. 29.

“She has a lot of quality and she’ll be better going farther,” said Wolfson, who reported that the Kentucky-bred filly is likely to return in a stakes.

Royal Rhiannon held second under Jose Valdivia Jr., 2 ¼ lengths ahead of favored Five Star Momma, who raced evenly in her return to Gulfstream, where she finished second behind Groupie Doll in the Hurricane Bertie (G2) last winter.

Who's Hot: Trainer Milt Wolfson saddled a pair of winners with Mile High City ($4.20) in the second and Frolic to the Wire ($10.20) in the seventh. Leading jockey Edgard Zayas scored a double-win day with Good Morning Dad ($12.80) in the third and Angel’s Girl ($14.20) in the eighth.
