HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Can't Stop the Kid, a promising 3-year-old son of Montbrook, gamely broke his maiden Saturday at Gulfstream, much to the delight of trainer Donna Green.

Green bid on and purchased the colt for $65,000 in March while shopping at a supermarket.

"I had seen the colt earlier during the week in Ocala and it was the most correct Montbrook I'd ever seen in my life," Green recalled. "The bidding was getting high and I was getting flushed and nervous, and the whole time I'm pushing a basket in a supermarket."

Green took Can't Stop the Kid to Saratoga last summer where he showed his potential while finishing third twice despite tough trips.

"The first time we raced him he got away last and the second time he went to the front over a sloppy track," she recalled. "We didn't bring him back to the races here until (Dec. 22) because we had him pinfired."

After finishing third once again Dec. 22 while being ridden for the first time by jockey Luis Saez, Green watched Can't Stop the Kid win Saturday over six furlongs while being equipped with blinkers for the first time and being ridden again by Saez. Can't Stop the Kid covered the distance in 1:11.33.

Green said she hasn't decided where to run Can't Stop the Kid next.

Who's Hot:Jockey Joe Bravo won two of Saturday's three stakes races. Bravo won the Marshua's River (G3) aboard Naples Bay ($18.20) and the Spectacular Bid with Just Call Kenny ($41.80). Trainer Todd Pletcher won three races, taking the Old Hat (G3) with Sweet Whiskey ($5.40), the eighth with Vinceremos ($5) and the 11th with Principessa Gina ($3.40).
