Rainbow 6 Survives; Saturday’s Carryover Jackpot Has $50,000 Guarantee

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – There were two live unique 20-cent Rainbow 6 tickets heading into the last race Friday at Gulfstream Park. Had either No. 7 Dardanian or No. 10 Lord Lemon prevailed in the eighth race a lucky ticket holder would have cashed for a jackpot carrying a $50,000 guarantee on the first racing day since last Monday’s mandatory payout. Neither horse finished in the money.

Multiple ticketholders with the 5-8-2-7-4-6 combination for the last six races were each worth $3,240.04.

A $6,678,939.12 Rainbow 6 jackpot was taken down by a Palm Beach bettor last Sunday on the day before a mandatory payout of the record carryover pool had been scheduled. A mandatory payout was still offered last Monday, when $779,610 was wagered on the Rainbow 6 and 48 winning tickets were each worth $12,796.04.

The guaranteed $50,000 jackpot is offered again Saturday should a bettor hold the only Rainbow 6 ticket with the winners of the last six races on the card.

Fawkes Doubles Up for $ 75,000 Anka Germania Stakes

Trainer David Fawkes saddled the 1-2 finishers in Friday’s fourth race, in which Wild About Jass ($26.40) overcame a very rough trip before finishing three-quarters of a length ahead of stablemate Lil Miss Sure Shot.

Fawkes will try to repeat that feat in Saturday’s $75,000 Anka Germania, a 1 1/16-mile turf stakes for fillies and mares. Fawkes is scheduled to saddle Glamour N Glory, a recent impressive allowance winner, and Adriani, who will run without blinkers in hopes she will improve on a recent third-place allowance finish.

Trainer Marty Wolfson could one-up Fawkes by saddling three fillies for the Anka Germania, including 5-2 morning line favorite E B Ryder and Gulfstream newcomers Magical Steps and Lilbourne Eliza.

Who's Hot: Jockey Juan Levya scored a pair of long shots: Miss Celeb ($20.60) in the first race and Dioncecht ($32.80) in the third.

Northwest Stud Stables, trainer Giuseppe Iadisernia and jockey Keiber Coa teamed for back-to-back wins with Casalinga ($7.20) in the fifth and Ultimate Speed ($4.20) in the sixth.

Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot: $50,000

Super Hi-5 Payoff: $6,696
