Gulfstream's $3 Million Capital Improvements Underway
HALLANDALEBEACH, Fl – Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino’s $3 million capital improvements project is in full swing as the world-class thoroughbred racing facility prepares for its December 3 opening.
Gulfstream is currently removing the Barco board from its infield, the three surrounding its walking ring and the two in the north and south towers to install six enhanced, higher resolution Daktronics LED displays. An additional LED board will be installed in the infield directly across from the Tiki Hut.
The high definition boards will further enhance Gulfstream’s partnership with Trakus, which uses wireless technology and displays each horse digitally by using small radio transmitters in the saddle towels of each horse.
Meanwhile, workers were busy Friday morning constructing a second finish line on the main track that will allow 1 1/16thmile races to be run at Gulfstream for the first time since 2004.
Construction is also continuing on a picnic area being built from the top of the stretch to inside the sixteenth pole. The picnic area will be an extension of the Tiki Hut.
“Obviously, our guest’s satisfaction is imperative to Mr. Frank Stronach and the entire management and staff at Gulfstream Park,” said Gulfstream’s President and General Manager Timothy Ritvo. “These capital improvements will enhance our guest’s experience and allow us to keep up with the latest in video technology.”
