 HALLANDALE, FL – Apprentice jockey Jose Alvarez was taken to Hollywood Memorial Hospital after being unseated from his mount in the first race at Gulfstream Park Friday,

Alvarez, who fell to the racetrack when Nuevo Seville appeared to hit the inside rail leaving the backstretch of the six-furlong race, complained of neck and back pain.

Alvarez has ridden six winners during the current Gulfstream meeting after winning the Tropical at Calder title.
