HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - After working a brilliant five furlongs Friday morning at Gulfstream Park in :58.80. Little Dreams Racing's undefeated 3-year-old filly Little Alexis is headed to Saratoga and the $500,000 Test (G1) on August 2, according to trainer Carlo Vaccarezza.
Little Alexis, who won Gulfstream's $75,000 Cash Run July 5, went three quarters in :34 Friday morning before galloping out six furlongs in 1:12.3. Little Alexis broke her maiden February 9 in her debut against My Miss Sophia, who would go on to win the Gazelle (G2) April 5 at Aqueduct by 7 1/4 lengths.
Little Alexis, who was sidelined by a stone bruise over the winter after her breaking maiden, was purchased by Vaccarezza for $32,000.
"She did it beautifully," said Vaccarezza, who also trains the multiple Grade I winner Little Mike. "She's always been a good filly. When we got her as a 2-year-old I wanted to run her first time out in the Pocahontas (G2). People thought I was crazy but I knew she was that type of filly."
Vaccarezza said he will ship the filly to Saratoga next week.
"She can still run here in a two-other-than or maybe an overnight stakes," he added. "But I think the race could pan out for her. There could be a lot of speed and she closes like a freight train."
Little Alexis closed from fourth when breaking her maiden and seventh when winning the Cash Run.
