08/15/2014

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Chuck Streva, a longtime chart-caller and linemaker at South Florida tracks, passed away Friday morning at Miami’s Baptist Hospital following a long illness.

Streva, 56, was widely respected for his expertise as the official Equibase chart caller at both Gulfstream Park and Calder Race Course, as well as the official linemaker during his long tenures at the two racetracks. Streva was also a popular public handicapper with his daily selections carried in the Miami Herald.

Streva grew up in a racing family that included late grandfather Dave Wilson, a legendary newspaper handicapper and columnist in New England and Florida, and uncle Jack Wilson, a former Daily Racing Form supervisor of track and field operations who called the official charts for the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup.

Streva is survived by his wife, Connie, and sons, Chris and Michael.

Funeral arrangements were being made Friday.
