Our Kids Holiday Toy Drive Kicks Off at Gulfstream
A toy drive to benefit Our Kids, which creates safe havens for children and families abused, abandoned and neglected in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, will be receiving donations each day through Dec. 24 at Gulfstream Park.
Our Kids will be accepting toys and monetary donations at the Toy Drive Center at 1240 Silks Run Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Organizer Bunchy Gertner is also offering children 15 years old and up an opportunity to earn community service hours for wrapping thousands of donated gifts, including six pallets of toys from Hasbro. Florida Power & Light (FP&L) will also have volunteers wrapping gifts at the Toy Drive Center.
William Ho, director of customer service and support services for FPL, said, "We're thrilled to give back to the community through our wrap sessions with Bunchy and Our Kids."
The mission of Our Kids is to oversee and lead a coordinated system of care delivering excellence to abused, abandoned and neglected children and their families in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Our Kids' vision is that the at-risk children of Miami-Dade and Monroe counties grow up in safe, permanent families.
