Saeed Naser al Romaithi’s 7-year-old gelding Force Freeze was simply brilliant winning Saturday’s $150,000 Gulfstream Park Sprint Championship (G2) by 3 ¾ lengths in his first start since finishing a game second by a neck behind Amazombie in the $1.5 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) at Churchill Downs on Nov. 5.

Mucho Macho Man Confirmed for Gulfstream Park Handicap

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Trainer Kathy Ritvo set the $300,000 Gulfstream Park Handicap (G2) on March 10 as the next start for multiple-stakes winner Mucho Macho Man. Ritvo gave the green light to the one-turn mile handicap after watching the 4-year-old son of Macho Uno breeze four furlongs Friday morning in :48.25 seconds at Gulfstream Park.
 

Derby Winner Animal Kingdom Starts 2012 Season at Gulfstream Saturday

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Animal Kingdom produced a career moment for trainer Graham Motion when Team Valor International’s colt powered to a 2 ¾-length triumph in the Kentucky Derby (G1) last May.
Although Animal Kingdom will forever be remembered as a Kentucky Derby champion, Motion still has misgivings about the son of Lesroidsesanimaux’s 2011 campaign that was cut short by injury in June.
“I believe he is a special horse that did not get to show how good he was, and I hope he gets that chance this year,” Motion said.
Animal Kingdom will start off his 2012 campaign at Gulfstream Park in Saturday’s fifth race, a 1 1/16-mile turf allowance race.
 

Her Smile Returns in Hurricane Bertie Sunday for New Connections

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Stronach Stable’s 4-year-old filly Her Smile was last seen under silks finishing a game third behind Musical Romance in the $1 million Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) at Churchill Downs on Nov. 4. She’s set to resume her career Sunday as one of the favorites in a field of seven fillies and mares drawn for the $150,000 Hurricane Bertie Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park.

Force Freeze Starts 2012 Campaign in Gulfstream Sprint

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Peter Walder is looking forward to a successful 2012 campaign for Force Freeze, a 7-year-old gelding who developed into an elite sprinter last fall. Yet, this racing season may seem to move a little slow for the trainer of the veteran sprinter that came so excruciatingly close to winning the Breeders’ Cup Sprint in his 2011 finale.
