Pomeroys Pistol Fires Best Shot in Sugar Swirl

Pomeroys Pistol was challenged by seven talented fillies and mares Saturday at Gulfstream Park, but the most daunting test facing the 4-5 favorite in the $100,000 Sugar Swirl (G3) was her post position.
Owner, breeder and trainer Amy Tarrant's concern about her 3-year-old filly's rail post position in the six-furlong sprint quickly dissipated with a stellar two-length victory.
 

Full Brother to Barbaro Rolls to Victory at Gulfstream

Margano, a full brother to 2006 Kentucky Derby (G1) and Florida Derby (G1) champion Barbaro, gained entry into the Gulfstream Park winner’s circle Saturday with an authoritative triumph in the seventh race, a 1 1/16-mile maiden turf event.

Jockey Paco Lopez took off his mounts Saturday and Sunday at Gulfstream Park due to a small hairline crack on his shoulder blade, according to agent Cory Moran.

Gulfstream Park Racing & Wagering has announced that fans that hold tickets on multiple-race wagers of more than three races will get “all” if there is a surface change during a Pick-4, Pick-5 or Rainbow 6.
