Gulfstream Opens Main Track For 5K Road Race Saturday May 14

Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino will open its main track and allow runners to race across its historic surface Saturday, May 14 during the Police Athletic League of Hallandale Beach 5K Run.

When Team Valor International’s Animal Kingdom won the 137th Kentucky Derby (G1) Saturday at Churchill Downs, he became the fifth horse in the last six years to win the Triple Crown event after wintering at Gulfstream’s state-of-the-art training facility Palm Meadows.

Six of the last nine Kentucky Derby winners have now wintered at Palm Meadows: Animal Kingdom (2011), Super Saver (2010), Big Brown (2008), Street Sense (2007), Barbaro (2006) and Funny Cide (2003).
