Welcome to the Fountain Club at Gulfstream Park.
Not only does the Fountain Club overlook shooting fountains – the focal point at Gulfstream Park – but also a walking ring where the finest Thoroughbreds, jockeys and trainers in the world gather every 25 minutes before they go to the track.
The Fountain Club provides a kaleidoscope of colors, excitement, anticipation and, yes, some of the finest cuisine and libations you’ll find anywhere in Florida.
Lemoncello Sole anyone? Maybe Turkey Quesadilla, Buttermilk Fried Chicken or Gulf Shrimp with Tequila Avocado? A Banana Split for desert with grilled, caramelized pineapples and sour cherry sauce?
Why not enjoy the races and a VIP view of the sport’s biggest star while sipping a Strawberry Mojito or Red Velvet Cupcake Martini? Or maybe a Gulfstream Breeze, something that will “melt the stress away” away with Mount Gay Rum, Pineapple, Cranberry and Orange juice?
The philosophy of Gulfstream’s newest restaurant is simple, according to executive chef Kevin McCarthy. “It’s all about really good food with a spectacular view.”
And McCarthy knows all about really good food. His past performances include a degree from the Culinary Institute of America with stops at Max’s Place, Café Maxx and the much-loved Armadillo Café. The fact the Fountain Club has earned rave reviews isn’t surprising since McCarthy has learned the business from the ground up; starting as a dishwasher on the Jersey Shore to supervising Florida’s most popular restaurants.
“This is a new venue that is always going to be evolving,” McCarthy said. “We’ve modeled the restaurant after different places, including The Porch at Saratoga. We have New England seafood but also crab cakes and shrimp. We have a wonderful cheese and fruit platter guests can nosh on throughout the afternoon.”
McCarthy is also putting together a menu for small groups from 30-to-100 who might want a private party overlooking the fountains that dance and turn color after the races.
“We’re excited about the winter and everything that’s going on at the Fountain Club,” said McCarthy, who also offers a unique wine list including Cakebreak and Duckhorn. “We’re going to mix things up, provide our guests with whatever they want, and have specials every day.”
Add a few winners and an X Rated Martini and it doesn’t get any better.
