First Dude Returns In Sunshine Millions Classic Saturday

Donald Dizney’s homebred colt First Dude became a familiar name on the national scene last season placing in the Preakness Stakes (G1), Belmont Stakes (G1) and other major 3-year-old events. Now the 4-year-old gets his 2011 campaign going as one of the choices in Saturday’s $500,000 Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park. 

Gulfstream Ready For Big Weekend

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park will be the focus of the racing world Jan. 29-30 when it plays host to the $400,000 Holy Bull (G3), the first major prep on the road to the Triple Crown, the $200,000 Forward Gal for 3-year-old fillies, and the ninth edition of the $1.8 million Sunshine Millions.

While Soldat is easily the highest-profile 3-year-old in the McLaughlin barn, he also has a couple of other promising young colts that are expected to see action as the Gulfstream meet unfolds in Namcook Stable’s Liberty Cup, who campaigned in England last season, and Darley Stable’s Crossbow, a sharp maiden winner last out at Aqueduct on Jan. 2.

Stradivinsky Speeds Into Sunday's Turf Sprint

On paper, there appears to be a lot of speed in Sunday’s second running of the $60,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint.The fastest of the seven horses, however, appears to be 8-year-old Stradivinsky who is coming off a tiring 13th-place finish in the Grade 2 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.
