Almost $90,000 was bet into Wednesday’s Rainbow 6, resulting in a total pool of $369,930 following a $280,175 carryover from Sunday. While there was no single winning ticket, multiple ticketholders cashed in on $25,117.76 for correctly selecting the final six winners on the card. The winning sequence for the popular 20-cent base wager was 2-1-1-7-4-9.
There was one single alive heading into the final leg of Wednesday’s Rainbow 6, with Equine Authority Inc.’s Monkey Money eligible to take down the entire jackpot with a victory in Race 10, but the chestnut colt finished off the board. Instead, post-time favorite Dreamin of Clarise captured the wager’s final leg, paying $6.20 to win and keeping the carryover alive for another day.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. The wager was last hit on May 22, when a $1.09 million mandatory payout resulted in multiple winning tickets worth $36,652.54. It was last solved outright for a payout of the entire jackpot on May 2, when the wager returned $39,320.72 after not being hit for four consecutive racing programs.
The Rainbow 6 carryover will again be up for the taking Thursday. It will span the third through eighth races on the eight-race program.
