Nov 13, 2019
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park announced today that well-respected racing official Dave Bailey has been named Racing Secretary at Gulfstream Park.

For Bailey, his appointment is a homecoming. He served in the same capacity at Gulfstream from 2000-2007.

“We’re ecstatic to have Dave join Gulfstream Park,” said Mike Lakow, Vice President of Racing at Gulfstream. “Dave has an impressive resume, has excelled in this position at the top tracks and has a great relationship and rapport with horseman throughout the country as well as our team at Gulfstream and The Stronach Group.”

“It will be a pleasure to be back at Gulfstream,” Bailey said. “It is home. I’m grateful for the opportunity Mike has given me. We look forward to having a banner Championship Meet and continue building our year-round program.”

Bailey, a native of Massachusetts, started in racing in 1979 at Gulfstream and was assistant racing secretary at Hialeah in 1984. He was assistant racing secretary at Gulfstream under Bob Umphrey in 1996 and at Hialeah under Tommy Trotter in 1997.
