HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – There’s plenty of action at Gulfstream Park Friday when the fall Sunshine Meet resumes with a pair of scheduled turf stakes, an estimated $125,000 jackpot pool in the 20-cent Rainbow 6, a two-day carryover of $20,153.44 in the $1 Players Place Pick 8 and simulcast wagering on the Breeders’ Cup World Championships from Keeneland.

Post time for the first of 10 races is 12:05 p.m.

Breeders’ Cup action starts at 2:55 p.m. in Race 6 at Keeneland with the Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1), followed by the Juvenile Fillies (G1) in Race 7, Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) in Race 8, Juvenile (G1) in Race 9 and Juvenile Turf (G1) in Race 10. Post time at Keeneland is 11:55 a.m.

Introduced in July, the Players Place Pick 8 is player-friendly, retail-only wager offering a 15 percent takeout where bettors are tasked with selecting horses to finish either first or second in each of the day’s final eight races. Friday’s sequence spans Races 3-10.

Race 3 (1:15 p.m.), maiden claimer, 3-year-olds and up, one mile, turf: Repole Stable’s French-bred 3-year-old colt is the 9-5 program favorite taking a sharp drop from back-to-back $115,000 maiden special weight events at Saratoga to running for a $35,000 tag in his first start since July 24. Tagermeen Racing’s Barjouj is a $125,000 son of Essential Quality also making his third start but first on the turf for leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., after finishing fourth in a maiden special weight on the all-weather Tapeta and third in a maiden optional claimer over the main track, both at Gulfstream.

Race 4 (1:50 p.m.), maiden claimer, 2-year-olds, seven furlongs, main track: Saint George homebred Tulio looks to break through in his fifth start, the last three on grass, for trainer Fausto Gutierrez. The Knicks Go colt has run third in his last two races, maiden claiming events at 7 ½ furlongs and a mile, both under Leonel Reyes, who rides back. Astrogem, out of 11-time winning mare Tiz Possible Dear, ran second in a similar spot sprinting 5 ½ furlongs Sept. 13.

Race 5 (2:25 p.m.), claimer, 3-year-olds and up, five furlongs, Tapeta: In Front Racing Stables’ Sofocles chases a fourth straight win and first since being claimed by trainer Nolan Ramsey for $10,000 out of a 1 ½-length decision going 5 ½ furlongs on the Tapeta Oct. 9. All four of his career wins have come in nine tries on the synthetic including three of five at the distance. Carcone ran second in that race and was third, less than a length behind Sofocles, at the course and distance Sept. 18.

Race 6 (3:05 p.m.), $75,000 Our Dear Peggy, 2-year-old fillies, one mile, turf: Teresa and David Palmer’s Liberty Rings is already a stakes winner on turf and dirt that adds blinkers off a seventh-place finish against boys in the five-furlong Hollywood Beach Sept. 26. She followed her only other off-the-board finish with a decisive win against Florida-breds in the Aug. 8 Scandalous Act. Sucker for Looks overcame a world of trouble to finish second in a 6 ½-furlong maiden special weight Sept. 9 at Kentucky Downs. Six horses exit wins including Kissed by a Rose, a half to Grade 1-winning millionaire Patternrecognition and two other multiple stakes winners.

Race 7 (3:45 p.m.), starter optional claimer, 3-year-olds and up, six furlongs, main track: C2 Racing Stable’s 9-year-old gelding Mish drew outermost Post 7 in his quest for a fourth win in his last five starts, sixth this year, ninth at the distance and 16th overall. His loss two back came by less than a length to 4-year-old Proud American, who returns in this spot for owner-trainer Mary Eppler, chasing her 1,000th career win at 992 and counting. Final Payment was a popular winner of his most recent start, a Sept. 12 claiming event at the course and distance.

Race 8 (4:25 p.m.), starter optional claimer, fillies and mares 3 and up, one mile, turf: Tell Me Some Lies has been first or second in seven of 14 tries on the grass, including four of her five lifetime wins, all going two turns, and placed in three straight overnight handicaps on turf last winter and spring at Tampa Bay Downs. New Life has won or been second seven times in nine starts overall including five in a row, with a record of 5-3-2-0 on Tapeta and 3-0-2-0 on grass. Tape Runner is the only one of nine horses to exit a win, a one-mile, 70-yard claimer on Tapeta Sept. 6.

Race 9 (5:05 p.m.), optional claiming allowance, 3-year-olds and up, one mile, main track: Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. sends out the pair of 2-1 program favorite Al Loud, a $650,000 auction purchase idle since a front-running maiden special weight victory July 19, and Zeus’s Echo, debuting for the barn with one win and three seconds from 12 prior starts. Irish Adieu, second to Al Loud this summer, won her subsequent start and was most recently second at the course and distance to Azam Oct. 9. All to Win has been first or second in four of seven races, his lone win coming in debut last August prior to stakes attempts in the Florida Sire Stakes series.

Race 10 (5:48 p.m.), $75,000 Cellars Shiraz, 3-year-old fillies, 1 1/16 miles, turf: Day to Day returns to Gulfstream after spending most of the year racing in Kentucky, Virginia, Canada and California, where she most recently ran second in the 6 ½-furlong John C. Harris (G2) Sept. 26 at Santa Anita. She has placed in six straight races, the last five of them stakes, with a win in the 1 1/16-mile Brookmeade June 27. She is trained by Joseph, who also sends out Pure Eloquence, 2-0 lifetime on turf, and maiden Little Georgie. Striking Finale carries a two-race win streak, both on the Gulfstream turf 14 days apart in August. Come On Teesha is perfect in two starts, each sprinting five furlongs on the grass against older horses.

Unsolved for six racing days since multiple mandatory payouts of $3,501.22 Oct. 11, Friday’s Rainbow 6 spans Races 5-10. In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Gulfstream Park will once again team up with Santa Anita Park for the $1 Sunset Six and $1 Coast-to-Coast wagers this weekend. Friday’s Sunset Six includes Races 8-10 at Gulfstream and Races 7-9 at Santa Anita. The Coast-to-Coast starts with Gulfstream Race 9 and continues with Santa Anita Race 4, Gulfstream Race 10 and Santa Anita Races 5 and 6.
