HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Trainer Patrick Biancone saddled Real Gone for an eye-catching maiden victory Saturday at Gulfstream Park, where the KMN Racing LLC homebred son of Olympiad rolled to an 8 1/2-length score in Race 4, a six-furlong maiden special weight for 2-year-olds on the main track.

Real Gone ($9.60), who was ridden by J. G. Torrealba, had finished fourth in his Aug. 2 debut in a 7 1/2-furlong maiden special weight on turf.

“I like to run them first time on the turf. It’s easier on them. If you saw the race, he got scared on the first turn and dropped to last, but he finished really well,” Biancone said. “I think he’s more a dirt horse. We worked him on the dirt and here we are.”

The Kentucky-bred colt took over the lead following a first quarter of a mile in 22.60 seconds and lengthened his lead past a half-mile in 46.67 and five furlongs in 59.31 on his way to a final clocking of 1:12.61. Eyeway, the early leader, held second.

Biancone said a stakes race is likely next for Real Gone, who was equipped with blinkers for the first time Saturday.

Two races later on Saturday’s program, Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Conviction graduated at first asking at 1-2 odds, capturing a five-furlong maiden special weight race for Florida-bred juveniles by three lengths.

The son of Tiz the Law, who was purchased for $800,000 at the OBS April 2-year-olds-in-training sale, was hustled to the lead by Rasheed Hughes leaving the backstretch and continued on to prevail in 1:00.02. Little Prince finished second, 1 1/4 lengths ahead of early pacesetter EZ David.

Conviction is owned by MyRacehorse, Chris Coleman, Skywest Stables LLC, Martin Raizman and Nancy Stone.

Joseph, who is well on his way to collecting his 16th consecutive meet title at Gulfstream, also was represented in the winner’s circle Saturday by Guns and Coffee ($6.60) in Race 8 and Jestina ($2.60) in Race 9. Joseph holds a 33-22 lead over Victor Barboza Jr. for the Royal Palm Meet title.

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $75,000

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $75,000 Sunday at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the first racing day following last Monday’s mandatory payout.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4=9, featuring back-to-back $70,000 optional claiming allowances in Races 6 and 7.

Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Sweetcity, a 3-year-old daughter of City of Light who graduated by 4 3/4 lengths under a hand ride in her last start, is the even-money favorite in Race 6, a six-furlong sprint to be contested by six fillies and mares. Heather Smullen-trained Corbet’s Crush, a daughter of Volatile returns to Gulfstream for Race 7, a five-furlong turf sprint for 3-year-old fillies, following a close-up third in a Colonial turf sprint. Trainer Victor Barboza Jr. is represented by a pair of last-out winners in a field of evenly matched fillies.

A mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be offered Monday. A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will also be offered next Monday, Aug. 31, the final ‘Mandatory Monday’ on the final day of the Royal Palm Meet.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

Camacho Closes in on Absent Herrera in Royal Palm Title Race

Jockey Samy Camacho cut into Diego Herrera’s lead in the race for the Royal Palm Meet jockey’s title Saturday. In the absence of Herrera, who was at Del Mar to ride British Isles in the $1 million Pacific Classic, Camacho moved to within two wins of the lead with a three-win day, scoring aboard Relentless Lady ($5.20) in Race 1, Sky Over Kingston ($6.60) in Race 3, and Call the Bullpen ($7) in Race 7

With five racing days remaining in the Royal Palm Meet Herrera holds an 81-79 lead over Camacho. Herrera has eight mounts Sunday and six rides Monday. Camacho is named on eight horses Sunday and two Monday.
