Filles & Mares Featured in Friday’s Rainbow 6 Sequence
7/17/2025Gonzalez Has 6 Chances Friday to Reach 2000-Wins Mark
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 starts anew Friday at Gulfstream Park following Sunday’s mandatory payout that yielded multiple payoffs of $14,191.
First race post Friday, Saturday and Sunday is 12:50 p.m.
The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9 on Friday’s program, which will be co-headlined by a mile-and-70-yard optional claiming allowance for 3-year-old fillies on Tapeta in Race 5 and a six-furlong optional claiming allowance for Florida-bred fillies and mares on dirt in Race 7.
Carlos David-trained Mom’s Martini, the 6-5 morning-line favorite in a field of eight, will likely be a popular ‘single’ for many bettors on the strength of the daughter of Liam’s Map’s back-to-back victories on Tapeta in her last two starts. Mom’s Martini is 3-for-3 over the all-weather surface.
The Race 7 co-feature would seem to be a likely ‘spread’ leg. Kathleen O’Connell-trained Charlie’s Beauty, the 5-2 morning-line favorite in a field of seven, steps up in class after winning her last two races in claiming events. Eduardo Nunez-trained Girvin Star also seeks her third-straight win after back-to-back scores against claimers. Defended makes her first start for solid off-the-claim trainer Jose Garafolo.
In the Rainbow 6, the carryover pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Note: Jockey Edwin Gonzalez, who needs one win to reach 2000-win milestone, has six mounts on Friday’s card – Spun to Purfection (4-1ML) in Race 2, Goodbetterbest (7-2ML) in Race 3, Evanora (12-1ML) in Race 4, Crafty Collector (6-1ML) om Race 5, Lido Beach (8-1ML) in Race 6, and Mama Drama (5-1ML) in Race 9.
