Friday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $100,000

Fall Sunshine Meet Resumes with Nine-Race Program
$225,000 Princess Rooney (G3) Tops Three Saturday Stakes

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is estimated to reach $100,000 when the fall Sunshine Meet resumes with a nine-race program Friday at Gulfstream Park.

Friday’s sequence spans Races 4-9 starting with a claiming event for maiden fillies and mares 3 and up going a one-turn mile on the main track that drew a field of seven.

The feature comes in Race 6, an allowance for Florida-bred 3-year-olds and up scheduled for a two-turn mile on the grass. Breaking from outermost Post 7 is All to Win, runner-up in each of his last two starts including a similar spot against elders Aug. 15 sprinting seven furlongs.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence. The next mandatory payout is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13.

The Rainbow 6 was last solved for a $29,308.54 jackpot payout Sept. 4 on opening day of the Sunshine Meet.

Saturday’s program at Gulfstream is highlighted by the $225,000 Princess Rooney (G3) for fillies and mares 3 and up sprinting seven furlongs on the main track, which serves as a ‘Win and You’re In’ qualifier for the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) Oct. 31 at Keeneland.

Supporting the Princess Rooney are the $100,000 Bob Umphrey Turf Sprint for 3-year-olds and up scheduled for five furlongs on the grass, and $100,000 Ginger Punch Handicap for fillies and mares 3 and up scheduled for a two-turn mile on the turf.
