HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is estimated to reach $200,000 for Friday’s 10-race program at Gulfstream Park.
First race post time is 12:20 p.m.
The popular multi-race wager last returned multiple mandatory payouts of $71,527.70 on Pegasus World Cup Day Jan. 24. The largest Rainbow 6 jackpot payout of the Championship Meet was $416,348.44 Jan. 8.
Friday’s sequence spans Races 5-10 and opens with a starter optional claimer for 3-year-old fillies scheduled for five furlongs on the grass. Stakes-placed Nacho Problem, third as the favorite in a similar spot Jan. 4, races first off a $35,000 claim for trainer Brad Cox. Four horses come off wins including Glancing My Way trained by co-meet leader Carlos David.
The feature comes in Race 7, a maiden special weight for 3-year-old fillies scheduled for 7 ½ furlongs on the grass. Elenique, by Leinster, will race for the first time with Lasix and without blinkers after finishing second and third in her first two starts, beaten a total of two lengths. Lion Lake cuts back looking to break through after finishing third by a half-length in a 1 1/16-mile maiden turf race Dec. 24 at Gulfstream.
Academia is a bay daughter of Into Mischief trying turf for the first time in three starts, having gone unraced since finishing fifth a seven-furlong maiden special weight Aug. 29 at Saratoga. Pan Pan, by 2018 Florida Derby (G1) winner Audible, was a half-length behind Lion Lake in the Christmas Eve maiden race won by Brat Pack, who is running in Saturday’s $175,000 Sweetest Chant.
Florida-bred 3-year-old fillies will go 5 ½ furlongs on the all-weather Tapeta course in Race 9 led by Tululo, who makes her long-awaited return after rallying from far back to win her unveiling last May by a nose sprinting five furlongs on the Gulfstream turf. Drama owns two wins and two seconds in seven starts, the most recent a front-running nine-length score Nov. 16 on the main track.
The Race 10 finale is a five-furlong maiden special weight for 3-year-old fillies scheduled for the grass that drew an overflow field of 14 including also-eligibles En Rose and Lexi V. The narrow 9-2 program favorite is Horsing Around, racing first time for co-meet leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. after finishing fourth in debut going five furlongs on the turf Dec. 22. Fraudster is a $400,000 daughter of Charlatan that has one second and one third in five prior starts, the last Jan. 4 on the Gulfstream turf. Trainer Miguel Clement unveils $350,000 Yaupon filly Emblaze.
In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
